How it works

Sammy goes into the share menu of her FreeStyle LibreLink app and invites her father, John, to connect.

John downloads the LibreLinkUp app, signs in, and accepts Sammy's invitation.

John receives Sammy's glucose information each time she scans her FreeStyle Libre sensor with her FreeStyle LibreLink app.

  1. LibreLinkUp is a mobile application, developed and provided by Newyu.
  2. FreeStyle Libre and FreeStyle LibreLink are provided by Abbott. Use of FreeStyle LibreLink and LibreLinkUp requires registration with LibreView, a service provided by Abbott and Newyu.
  3. The FreeStyle LibreLink app is compatible with NFC-enabled smartphones running Android OS 5.0 or higher and with iPhone 7 and higher running OS 11 and higher.
  4. The FreeStyle LibreLink app and the FreeStyle Libre reader have similar but not identical features. A finger prick test using a blood glucose meter is required during times of rapidly changing glucose levels when interstitial fluid glucose levels may not accurately reflect blood glucose levels or if hypoglycaemia or impending hypoglycaemia is reported by the Sensor or when symptoms do not match the Sensor readings.
  5. The FreeStyle Libre sensor communicates with the FreeStyle Libre reader that started it, or the FreeStyle LibreLink app that started it. If you wish to use both the reader and the app, start your sensor with the reader first, then scan with the phone within one hour.
  6. Transfer of glucose data between applications depends on cellular connectivity.
